About the Event
This two day course will focus on:
Building rapport
Miranda - when and how to introduce it
Taking written statements
Detecting deception
Differences between the interview and the interrogation
How to use your interview to obtain physical evidence
Putting together your case for court and principals of professional testimony
** This course will also focus on and include the actual application of techniques in FTX (field training exercises)**
Students will observing ongoing live interviews being conducted via CCTV
About the instructor: Brendan Rafter retired from the NYPD as a Sergeant Detective Squad Supervisor after 23 years of service. During his time in the police department Rafter served in the Bronx Gang Squad, the 43rd precinct's Detective Squad and as a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team. His last seven years were in the Major Case Squad, where he served as the commanding officer of the Bronx Major Case Squad for five years.
