Low Light Operator (Long Island)

The purpose of this low-light course is to establish and then stress test the officers ability in the use of a tactical flashlight in all situations ranging from normal daily activities up to and including lethal force engagements.

Officers will be introduced to the principles of low-light close quarters battle (LLCQB), the five general applications and use of a tactical light, various in-hand flashlight techniques, reloads and malfunction clearing with a light in hand, and the segmented search method on use of cover in low-light environments.  

Tactical light applications to control suspects, search for hidden subjects or identify threats and threatening areas will also be taught. Tactical utilization of the flashlight will also be taught for room clearing situations.  Officers will be presented with shoot/no shoot situations in a live-fire shoot house further validating his/her skills in a low-light engagement.

Required Equipment:

Duty gear/belt

QUALITY hand held flashlight (mandatory even if student has WML)

Eye and ear protection

500 rounds handgun ammunition (This is a handgun only course)
